106-Year-Old Reveals Junk Food Secret

106-Year-Old Reveals Junk Food Secret
Finally a wise 106 Canadian woman has given us the secret to longevity that we have all been waiting for, she says she loves pizza and fries! She also loves sweets and never drinks water, so what’s all this rubbish about keeping ourselves healthy?
This past saturday Margaret Ellen Moores celebrated her 106th birthday in her small town of Rushoon, N.L. which is about 275 km west of St. John’s. Her house was packed and of course reporters were there to get the dirt on how she has kept going so long.
It was her daughter who spilled the beans saying her mother has never really eaten healthy and that pizza and fries has been a large part of her diet in later years. She also said she only drinks tea or juice. She is in good health for a woman of her age only taking painkillers for arthritis but she is hard of hearing and has a few problems with her balance so doesn’t make it out of the house much. Her bad site means she can’t read too much these days either sadly.
You can read more comments from her daughter in Canada.com’s article here.
106-Year-Old Reveals Junk Food Secret, Thoughts
I did the same thing as the rest of the media and lured you in with the kicker of this story. The thing is I think it’s far too shallow to assume that she has lasted so long on her junk food diet alone. So many other factors in the little I know of her life scream as factors that have helped her live to such a grand age.
Firstly she adopted this diet in later life and her daughter said that “it was more traditional Newfoundland fare, such as salt beef, pork and fish” that she ate in younger life. Good quality meats and likely side vegetables, even if high in carbs and fat, will offer a lot of nutrition for anyone. Certainly more than fries and pizza.
She never did drink much or smoke and she comes from a small town that she has more or less stayed in her whole life. That sounds like a pretty low stress life, of course an assumption, to me. Her daughter also mentioned a strong catholic faith and although I don’t belive in the faith myself I won’t fail to recognise the good faith in something does for everyone.
As far as I think Mrs Moores didn’t reach her age by pure chance or a fast food diet. It seems far more likely to me that a low stress life and living in a country with decent social and health support are major players in her being able to celebrate 106.
I wouldn’t mind reaching the century myself but I sadly can’t make that decision or judgement, I can just try my best!

Ha ha, yeah I know right. Quebec has such lovely cuisine! I love the fact that hot chicken sandwiches have one side of the sandwich made out of bread and the other made out of gravy!

Ha ha, I had to look the Trix rabbit up (don’t have that in UK)…. I guess Trix are for kids because not many Trix eating kids make it to adulthood with enough health to recommend them!
Funny you should pop by, I was reading a very old email of yours today about using cc’s as a form of protest and I was getting prepared to publish it as a post as you said I could all that time ago
