America’s greatest entrepreneurs: Success breeds success

America's greatest entrepreneurs Success breeds successI was just looking at some interesting slides over at MSN talking about America’s greatest entrepreneurs and how their Success breeds success. Basically it means that even long after their original companies have disbanded or they have died child business has managed to thrive and the classic entrepreneurs are at the roots to many of the World’s biggest companies.

It talks about how John D. Rockefeller Sr revolutionized the il industry and his legacy lives on through highly succesful companies like Exxon Mobil. How Andre Carnigie gave away his fortunes and became a timeless leaver, Edison lived on through General Electric and many other energy related companies and Henry Ford….. Well we all know about Ford!

Th point here is that through genius and the spirit to carry it out your legacy can thrive rebirth for many years after you are gone. America’s greatest entrepreneurs continue to this day to inspire and breed new success in the modern and future entrepreneurs of this world.

My biggest problem with the past examples is that their success almost always led into big business and in many ways I think the future entrepreneurs may be better not setting sites on monopolies or money making as such. Innovation and ideas should come in the areas of advancement for the good of all without a dollar sign in their eyes!

The MSN Slides can be found here: America’s greatest entrepreneurs: Success breeds success

I see myself as an entrepreneur but will likely never be a great. However I can look up to people and draw strength from what they have achieved.

One thing you gotta ask is… what would the world be like if these guys had never started their businesses? ;)

That’s a very good point. Especially folks like Edison!

I see what you are saying. In addition to these named men being entrepreneurs they were also inventors. It was what set them apart and changed the world. Our modern day inventor/entrepreneur is Bill Gates. He sets an amazing example. Spend the first half of your life earning money and the second half giving it away.

Hey Carol, I am mixed about Gates. I can’t understate the good his wife and he are doing for the world, especially now he has stepped down. However the monopolistic practices of microsoft in the past had been a point to critique…. Like I said, I am mixed but the world is likely better for him!

  3. I once read that Henry Ford did not believe in credit in any shape or form: built his business with cash. How’s that for a foreign business concept nowadays? Imagine if the Ford company had kept up that policy…

Hey Jolyn, I actually heard that before. People said he would be turning in his grave if he found out! For many years the auto industry was great pay and a secure job. Ford’s vision gave America a stable backbone of industry for many many years…. It’s just a shame that the product is so dirty for our world but hopefully companies are finally getting over their ties with the oil giants and actually will try to turn the industry around by going back ti innovation and ideas that are going to advance the world not just make quick money!

Ford have an all electric plug in focus coming out within 2 years I hear…..
