Aviator sunglasses hardly needs any introduction. Aviators are stylish and they are one of the most sought after eyewear accessories out there today. Contrary to popular belief these must-haves did not get their start in show business, although the musicians and movie stars who wore them certainly did help boost their popularity.
In 1936, seven years after sunglasses were first introduced, out of the labs at Bausch & Lomb came the Aviators. These were not put into the market at that time as they were originally developed for pilots serving in the U.S. Air Force. This aviator design was branded as Ray-Ban and they were modeled from the goggles that pilots wore at that time. It didn’t take long before these glasses became popular with the pilots and what really gave them a kick start to fame was when General Douglas MacArthur was photographed wearing a pair of aviator sunglasses when landing on the beach on the Philippines in 1944.
Aviator Design
Aviators are a style of sunglasses that are characterized by a dark and somewhat reflective lens. They have an area two or three times the area of the eye socket and they have metal frames with flexible cable temples or bayonet ear pieces that hook behind the ear. The original design in the 1930’s featured G-15 tempered glass lenses (they allowed in only 20 percent of incoming light). The design is actually a smart design, they are meant to cover the entire range of the eye in order to prevent as much light as possible from entering the eye regardless of the angle.
Shopping for Aviator Sunglasses
We all have been led to believe at one point or another that the cost of designer sunglasses is one that only a few can afford; or purchasing a pair takes a bit of saving for. Let’s face it, for many years this truly was the case but nowadays the market is so vast that almost anyone is able to wear designer glasses.
Wholesale Aviator sunglasses are out there and it’s much easier finding them than it was even one year ago. Online shopping has opened the door to many new Aviator products including prescription Aviator sunglasses.
Ray-Ban offers several styles of Aviators such as the Outdoorsman and the Shooter.
In addition, wholesale Aviator sunglasses are available in different frame materials that include carbon fiber and titanium. Aviator lenses come in various tints with polarization and optional gradients.
Ray-Ban does not hold the monopoly on Aviators these days. There are other high-end sunglass companies that have produced their own versions including Maui Jim, Ted Baker, Coach and others. This allows for more competition in the market therefore enabling wholesale Aviator sunglasses.
Frugality is Wise
Being frugal in a wise move no matter what we purchase. It’s important to remember that being frugal does not mean being cheap. According to Dictionary.com, the definition of frugal is: “economical in use or expenditure; prudently saving or sparing; not wasteful”.
Regardless of your personal finances, it’s always best to air on the side of caution and spend wisely. Besides, if you can spend a little time shopping around to get a deal that leaves you with more money in your pocket to either spend on other items, or to put away for a rainy day.
It only makes sense to shop around for wholesale Aviator sunglasses because they are out there and they will save you money. Be sure to check out online merchants as they too will have a great selection of wholesale Aviator sunglasses that will keep cash in your pocket.
