Phew, finally after 4 weeks away from any serious exercise I decided to start round 2 of the Insanity Home Workout Program (<– Affiliate Link).

I love Insanity and that fact that I can keep doing it again and again, at home , with no special equipment makes it a great budget conscious workout too! It’s far cheaper than the gym’s round here that is for sure!

I have been wanting to provide videos here on Frugal Zeitgeist for a while now and I thought this Day 1 Insanity update would be a great place to start. It’s nothing special but I hope you enjoy a little glimpse at me.

Insanity Round 2 Start and Goals

What’s the point of doing things without any goals! My basic basic goals are weight and measurement based but I want to improve my upper body strength a little more (I think I lag there) and just keep pushing forward with my overall fitness. I hope I can really push round 2.

2 Aug 2010 Start Weight: 86kg (189.5lbs approx)
Goal Weight: 82kg (180.5lbs approx)

2 Aug 2010 Waist Measurement: 37″

2 Aug 2010 Belly Measurement: 39″

Diet…

Insanity comes with an awesome diet plan that is quite technical but varied…. However being vegetarian, its still not quite varied enough for me so I have chosen to do my own thing.

The most important thing is to get as much full complete protein as I can. So I will be eating a lot of things like beans and rice, in fact I will like eat some kind of bean and vegetable with most meals whilst trying to slim down a little and keep energy levels up.

Final Thoughts

I am hoping to also add a little stretching on evenings when I see fit and make use of my pull up bar to try and build on the upper body strength so I am ready to tackle the hard exercises in Month 2 that I struggled with last time.

I would love to know if you have any comments at all. I hope my dedication and progress will motivate you.

Since you are vegetarian, it will be more difficult to capture the required amount of protein and also avoid eating too many carbs. However, you might be interested in reading up on primal diet guidelines: Lower carbs, higher fat and protein. It’s supposed to approximate a diet more similar to the one we ate in the paleolithic.

    Good luck with the insanity!

Hi Kevin, it’s not too bad really. I have been training for many years at different levels and the higher carbs is not too much of an issue if you just makes sure you do get the protein. My Achilles heal is bread (I love it!!) and too much bread is very bad!!!

I have heard of the primal diet but never looked at it properly…. Will definitely do some research to see what it’s all about.

      Thanks,

      Forest.

158.5 pounds is light! How tall are you?

I used to be a 32″ waste, but it’s gone to 33-34 now. I’ve never measured my belly. Hmmmm.
