Being frugal on a non-frugal day!!

Posted on 25. Jul, 2008 by in General, Saving Money & Finances

why so seriousI finally bowed into going to see Batman, The Dark Knight on IMAX at full price, a whopping $14.95!!!!

It’s ironic really considering that I wrote a post about seeing The Dark Knight for cheap, just the other day.

The movie was unbelievably awesome and Heath Ledger ironically lived up to everything that was expected of him. I WILL be watching this movie again at some point.

RIP Heath, we miss you already

I advise you all to go and see it soon. You will not be disappointed.

But after spending such a huge amount of money on the ticket, I had to try and apply my ideals of frugal living to the rest of the day…. in many ways I failed!!

I really wanted a large popcorn and a drink but did manage to cut down to sharing a large coke with my girlfriend.

After I went for one beer and ate one slice of $1.50 pizza before heading off home and relaxing the beer away.

So in some ways I kept budget on my mind. Sadly I am off to the pub for a while longer this evening and will try and not let alcohol rip away my frugal self…..

I am not sure how I view today. I have been very good recently and guess you need to have days to relax your strict routines otherwise craziness will ensue. I don’t want to end up twisted like the Joker :)

Have you seen the movie yet? How do you try and stay frugal on un-frugal days?

The cost of today so far is…. $24…. I’m off to the pub to make that worse!! Please forgive me!

I was almost afraid to click here and read because I’m going to see this later this evening for my birthday ;) No spoliers though and I here it’s great so good news!

You need days to “splurge”, As long as you’re pinching pennies and keeping off debt, it’s ok. Can’t take it with you!

Oh I forgive you. Isn’t the point of living frugal so that you have the money available to do things like go to the pub and watch Batman on the IMAX? That would be my take on it.

It sounds like a great day out to me for still a cheap cost – some days I go out to get away from the computer and usually end up treating myself to a Starbucks including some food – not cheap, but I end up being there for an hour or two and use the time to relax and read some magazines – so I treat it as research for my blog! ;)

A day out could be much worse, imagine going out and spending the day shopping – how bad would you feel having spent hundreds of dollars on stuff you really don’t need?

@Zath, I hate shopping….. thankfully, unless I am buying gadgets that is (should be shopping on the web for things like that anyway :) )

Yeah I like to relax in a cafe. Coffee in coffee shops in actually pretty reasonable here unless you go for a big treble, cream chocolate delux moccameeccowhatsitlatte!! A normally coffee is about $2 or so.
