Best Credit Card Reward Programs

It can be difficult to determine what credit card reward programs are best for you and your family. Not only are there dozens of choices available from all the major companies, but wading through the offers themselves and their respective jargon can be confusing.

Don’t let the initial process deter you from signing up for a rewards program, however. Credit card rewards programs can be incredibly beneficial for those of us who use plastic regularly. If you purchase a lot regularly with your credit card you should be working towards a reward simultaneously with your company. Generally these reward programs offer cash back, points for “stuff”, and airline miles.

Let’s take a look at some of the best credit card reward programs out there and what they have to offer.

Cards that offer cash back rewards:

Chase Freedom Visa

Get $100 back after spending $500 in the first three months. Afterwards earn up to 5% back on up to $1500 spent each quarter and 1% back on everything else. For some select online merchants, earn up to 10% back.

Discover More Card

No annual fees, a $100 sign on bonus and 5% cash back on what you spend. Not too shabby.

American Express

Now let’s take a look at cards that get you ‘stuff’ as you earn points with them.

Cards that offer ‘Points Rewards’.

Chase Sapphire Credit Card

Unlimited points: $100 cash or 10,000 points.

American Express Zync Card

Bonus of 10,000 points after first purchase. $25 annual fee.

And now for something completely different. Okay, well, just different rewards anyway. What are the best cards for people who like traveling?

Cards that offer air miles:

CitiGold AAdvantage Card

If you make $750 worth of purchases in the first four months you get a 30,000 mile bonus. That’s more than enough for a domestic round trip flight. Not too shabby. The first year is free and the second has a $50 membership fee.

Discover Miles

12,000 bonus miles without an annual fee.

Platinum Delta SkyMiles

A $150 annual fee along with 20,000 bonus miles.

Picking out a credit card is rarely an easy task, especially considering the dozens of choices available to the average consumer. While most cards might help you in your purchasing pursuits– some offer just a little bit more.

I particularly love earning air miles because I love to travel. I appreciate rewards cards in general because  subscribe to the mentality of,  ”well I’m going to have a card anyway, might as well get something in return.”

I just got the Starwood American Express card last week. It is constantly rated one of the top rewards cards for people interested in travel. There was a big signup bonus and you can convert the points for hotels or airlines. It is very much worth the $65 annual fee (waived first year) to me.
