Canada Most Stolen Cars
During my time in Montreal I learned that although it was a safe city, car crime was rampant! I don’t think I knew one vehicle owner who had not had an attempted car break in or an outright theft of their car, maybe I just had unlucky friends!
The truth of the matter is that car crime is a serious problem throughout most major cities of the world and Canada is not an exception to this. In 2010 approximately 93,000 vehicles were stolen, luckily that was down around 15% from 2009 but sadly recovery rates are dropping.
Thieves are stealing high-end vehicles for sale in export and local markets and are often hiding the crime efficiently by breaking the vehicles up to sell as parts and filter through the used markets. As with most areas of crime it is getting far more organised and thus much much harder to keep up. Your vehicle could also be stolen for a joyride, to get somewhere fast or for use in a crime!

Of course insurance companies take this data into consideration so it could give you some reason to avoid these models (but I wouldn’t ride totally on that). More importantly you should make sure your vehicle is protected and not an easy target for theft.
I our post prevent your car from being stolen we look at some of the ways you can protect your vehicle from the horrible nuisance of theft.
Do you own a model from the last 5 years worth of lists and have you owned one that has been stolen? What was it stolen for and did you manage to recover it?
Thanks for reading.
