Cheap Halloween Costume

Another big money spender during Halloween is your costume. Finding a good cheap Halloween costume is not that hard though, just requires a bit of creativity.

So here are some tips:

1. Hit The Charity Store – Loads of Halloween items get given to Charity shops such as the Salvation Army after use. So every year these stores get it all out and dust it off to sell for another year. Sometimes you can find full commercial costumes and accessories at a fraction of their original cost.
2. Make It Yourself, But Keep It Simple – Think of the cool but simple things you can so. Spongebob Squarepants could be made with a large box and some poster paint, and could look great.  A zombie could be made with some simple grey makeup and some fake blood stained old clothes. Many movie characters can be mimicked just using clothes in your or your friends wardrobes. The possibilities are endless.
3. Get Your Sewing Machine Out - Or ask a friend. This is still making it yourself but may require some higher skills. Last year a friend made my partner a Dorothy style dress from some cheap fabric and I dressed up as the Lion all made with cheap fabric.
4. Borrow a costume – Many people would have collected Halloween costumes over the years where they don’t like wearing the same thing each year. Ask around and see what is available collecting dust in people’s basements!
