Cheap Summer Holiday Tips 2011 - With summer 2011 in full swing it’s time to start considering some tips for cheap holidays. For many of us, money is tight this summer. The state of the economy has put a lot of stress on all of us, making it difficult to justify a holiday. However there are great ways to save big and have a wonderful vacation with your family without breaking the bank.
Cheap Summer Holiday Tips 2011
The best way to begin planning your summer holiday on a budget is to sit down and figure out realistically how much you can spend. Once you’ve set a bar for yourself you can start exploring your options.
Below is a list of Cheap Summer Holiday Tips 2011:
Don’t Go Too Far
The closer you stay to home, the less money you have to spend on transportation. “Staycations” are very popular right now– where people don’t leave their homes at all, but instead use holiday money for enjoying themselves at home. Go to the movies every day– check out restaurants you’ve never been able to try– check out local wineries or other fun tourist spots. Or you can always look for flights/trains/bus deals for nearby locations.
Don’t Go For Too Long
If you’d like to take a trip and treat yourself to a fancier holiday, cut down on the time you spend there to make up for the price. If you’re looking for luxury, consider taking a a weekend away rather than a week. You can indulge for a shorter amount of time and spend the rest of the time you have away from work relaxing at home.
Think Simply
The more complicated your vacation is, the more expensive it will probably be. There are simple vacations you can take won’t put you into debt. Consider camping with your family, a road trip, a biking trip. There are plenty of simple options that are inexpensive.
Know Where to Look
There are great package deals online if you know where to look. Recently, my uncle and his wife went to Las Vegas for four days. The airfare, hotel and breakfast was $1000 for the two of them. Not too bad considering they were flying from the east coast. They found the deal on Expedia.com. I also have found some great international travel deals on BudgetTravel.com.
At the end of the day there are great ways to enjoy your holiday without spending too much money. A great vacation doesn’t necessarily mean spending tons of money. If you focus more on relaxing and spending time with the people you love then a great holiday is nothing more than sleeping in late, reading a good book and getting together with family and friends.
These are just a few Cheap Summer Holiday Tips for 2011. Enjoy your summer!

Very nice advice. Actually, I got into a routine of taking short holidays, and I found that if the holiday is too short, it can end up being very expensive too; the costs for transportation is too high compared to the rest of the expenses, and I often ended up spending too much money at my destination on little things, because I unconsciously knew that the holiday was cheap anyway.
