Cockroach Infestation

Welcome to Part 1 in our 7 part Cockroach Control on a budget series.

Cockroach Infestation is something that we all want to avoid. You may have noticed just one roach, a few roaches or more than you can handle in your home but from now on out the best thing to assume is that you have some level of infestation.

Many people say that for every cockroach you see, there are 100 more nesting nearby.

Of course this is not always true. A cockroach could have been brought in with the groceries, apparently they love hanging out in Potato sacks! This could be how an infestation was brought into the house in the first place as cockroaches have immense breeding capabilities.

If you start seeing them then you will inevitably want to start killing them and then get together a long term plan to get rid of them completely. I will be dealing with these matters in the next few parts of this series.

Cockroaches like to hide and breed in damp and warm cracks which makes certain parts of your home like your kitchen and bathroom perfect breeding ground. They feed on almost anything including crumbs of food, sweet liquid and if needed cardboard, soap and human toenails!

Finding a cockroach will quickly make you start spring cleaning and is a great incentive to keep your house spotless! The less for them to feed on the less likely they will hang around.

Of course if you live in a large apartment block the cockroaches may be there to stay and sadly you will just have to make your flat unappealing for them and make sure that you keep your control methods up all year round.

It’s widely believed that cockroaches are one of the only things that would survive a nuclear genocide so you could have a real fight on your hands! Hopefully by the end of this series you will have the knowledge and information to win the battle!

But first we will move onto the types of cockroaches that you are likely to find in your home.

Ha ha! Thanks for that laugh, been writing about these little critters all day and it’s not a fun subject.

If only we could harvest them for food. I guess most of the disease would cook out and they might be nice stewed with some tomatoes :) .

    Like little land shrimps!

You forget to look up when the camera snapped or did the critters get the top of your head. You know at one point in man’s history they ate bugs like these. Today there’s a tribe in Africa that harvests the termite swarms for the fat since their diet doesn’t contain any…

And we shan’t get into tiny livestock….

Yum, termite fat :) … Seriously though if they could be used for decent food then why not… I don’t know if I could do it but I would give it a go if it was safe!
