College Graduation Gift Ideas

I know that most college kids want a car when they graduate, some would like an apartment or a long vacation paid for but personally I think these huge ticket items are way to much unless you really do have all that cash to spare.
I think looking at some more modest but sensible college graduation gift ideas are a better way forward for most of us.
Moral College Graduation Gift Ideas
1. A savings account with a starter - $50-$100-$1000, whatever you feel is right, but giving them a savings account and strict instructions that you want them to save, not spend the cash is a good gift… You will have to walk them to the bank, sit down and apply with them (unless you do it over the phone with them or online). It will be a good example to lead by and may be the best gift they ever get.
2. A eco/charity-vacation - A vacation is a good reward but why not send them on a moral vacation for some eco tourism or even for a 2 or 3 month stint helping people in another country. Opportunities are so wide and varied now and can give a real chance to meet awesome people and get a great line on your resume.
3. A small business - You could consider buying a website that is generating some income, or a small business of some sort that they could get their teeth right into either part time, on the weekends/evenings or full time if they can support themselves through other means. I think small business is the way forward so I love this idea.
What do you think is a great college graduation gift?
So I only threw a few suggestions up there….. What ideas for gifts do you have?
