Homemade condiment recipes
Posted on by Forest in Diet, General, Health, Opinion, Recipes & Food
I love condiments. I don’t use a whole lot though because many of them are full of coloring, sugar and other undesirables so I find it easier to just use basics like mustard and sometimes a little ketchup.
I have toyed with the idea of making them myself at home so have been looking around at various recipes and going to my goto place to see what is required so I can make sure I have totally healthy (in the sense that I know all the ingredients going in and they are all natural) condiments in my home.
Homemade condiment recipes from All Recipes
I don’t know if you have ever used All Recipes but i love it and find most of my recipes from there. Looking through there are plenty of condiment recipes available and I am going to share some of the top rated and easy to make ones with you here.
Tip: When making recipes from All Recipes always, always read through the user comments for recipe changes and additions that people have found make them better.
Tomato Ketchup
Gordon Ramsey swears you can’t beat Heinz ketchup and I have tried to make ketchup before but had trouble making it smooth but I think it’s time for another try. This recipe for Tomato Ketchup scores 4.5 out of 5 and gets great user feedback. If you are feeling adventurous there is also a recipe for a Rhubarb Ketchup that has a 5 star rating, yum!
Mayonnaise
Mayonaise may well be my worst condiment and possibly food of all time but it’s popular so I was kind enough to look up a great rated recipe for you guys
. This garlic mayonnaise recipe scores a rating of 4 out of 5 but you should read through the comments.
Mustard
It’s actually very easy to buy mustard that is pretty pure in it’s ingredients so just read the backs. You can also whip up mustard powder with a little water and a tiny amount of vinegar or go for a jazzy recipe like this 5 star rated Honey Mustard Dip.
Sweet Chilli Sauce
For Asian style food or hot snacks it’s great to have thai sweet chilli sauce on hand but the store bought ones are full of additives. This Sweet Thai Chilli Sauce has a 5 star rating and looks yummy.
Salsa
Salsa is something you should have on hand all the time. I love it with cheese in a sub with salad and for dipping vegetables. This Zesty salsa recipe looks great.
Your input….
If you have any condiment recipes or have tried any of the above I would love to hear from you. Are you going to try any of these?
