Inexpensive Wedding Invitations

Buying official wedding invitations can be a massive drain on your resources at a time when you want everything to be perfect. There are many things you can do to get inexpensive wedding invitations that fit your budget.

Making your own inexpensive wedding invitations

When I got married my favourite craft was embossing parchment, so I found a design that was in keeping with the theme of the wedding that was quick and easy to do, and made 150 of them. I hated that design by the time I had finished! But it looked fantastic, and at least two people I know of have framed it! In total they cost me less than £5 to make, plus many hours of work.

My Sister-in-Law had discovered paper making just before she decided to marry my Brother, so she made three different shades of paper that matched the theme of her wedding. She made the base card out of the strongest colour, and put a square of the medium colour on the front, and a smaller square of the lightest colour on top of that, then glued a little flower that she had pressed on top of that. To my knowledge she hasn’t made paper since. In total it cost her about £2.50 for the glue and the pens, plus many hours of work for the 100 Invites she made, discounting the time these inexpensive wedding invitations are fantastic options..

Buying inexpensive wedding invitations

My Best Friend bought her wedding invitations from a shop that was closing down, at rock bottom prices, and was disappointed that they didn’t look as good as they could have. In total it cost her about £25 for the 100 Invites she bought, but it would have cost her an awful lot more if they had been at their normal price!

My point here is, no matter how you decide to budget your Wedding Invitations, there is going to be both a positive side and a negative side. As I have said in other articles, this is a life style choice, and I can’t and won’t tell you which way to go on this one, it is for you to decide what suits your personality best. If you are a creative person, and feel that making a hundred or so invitations is a lovely way to celebrate your marriage, then go for it! But be prepared to be totally sick and tired of that craft by the time you finish, and don’t forget to cost the materials you will be using, with some crafts it could well work out cheaper to buy ready made!

Do some research, find out if there are any stationary shops in your area holding sales or closing down. Find out how much it will cost you to make the cards, do the math! UGH! I know, math is an ugly word, but when it comes to finances, of any sort, math is the way to go I am afraid.

In the long run, you will be grateful you have done the research, and your day will be beautiful no matter what you decide to do, because when it comes down to it, it really is all about celebrating the love between you and your partner, invitations, flowers and food are all just icing on the cake!

Hey W.edding…. I guess a wedding invite is official when it’s sent from the bride and groom… Sue just means when buying your wedding invites.

Hi W.edding, Forest is right, I just meant buying as opposed to making your own, perhaps I chose the wrong word there, but I just couldn’t think of another way of putting it at the time! Sue
