Live Long & Frugal

Frugality and optimism go hand in hand.
Frugal living can help give you a positive outlook by letting you live within your means, feel that you are being responsible for your environment and not raping the world of it’s resources.
Likewise, a positive outlook will help you stay on track and carry on with your frugal ideas. You will be less likely to slip and binge on unnecessary things.
This means that plans to enter a more frugal lifestyle need to be faced with optimism and confidence in the benefits it will bring to you and your loved ones. Understand that anyone can always be more frugal. Also, it does not instantly demote you to a tightwad or cheapskate status. Contrary to myth, you can treat yourself and you don’t have to shut yourself from the outside world in order to function under a frugal-living paradigm.
Realistic goals should be set and you need to integrate it into your current lifestyle in small pieces. Waking up one morning and deciding to give up all alcohol and fast food could slam you instantly into depression and ultimately experience the total opposite effect when you have a full scale relapse.
That does not mean that you should take your path to frugality lightly. We all have/had our reasons for looking at reducing or changing our consumption. For some, it starts off totally financial. For others, environmental resaons could be the catalyst. In any case, you will soon learn that it becomes ingrained in your daily decisions and well-being. Soon enough, you begin to respect all aspects. Keep this attitude at all times.
If people start teasing you for being more frugal, then just calmly explain to them the situation this world is facing- oil crises, food crises, recessions- and that you are building a sturdy future to survive this. It all sounds very apocolyptic. But in reality, we have seen it happening around us and maybe even to us!
As you gather your budgets and frugal ideas and start implementing them into your lifestyle you will notice many added benefits. Here are some examples:
- The minute you are spending less than you earn, stress about money will be relived and you will probably feel much happier;
- Cooking at home will make you a culinary genius, and impress friends, date and partners;
- Growing food tends to have the same pleasurable feeling as raising a pet, although a griesome and yummy end awaits;
- Eating at home, indulging in less junk and having less stress will benefit your health. It’s generally agreed that good health helps you feel much happier with yourself;
- Frugal living can become an addictive hobby. The internet will likely become a very close friend in your research and you may meet many interesting and down right crazy frugal people along the way!
So go get it, improve your wealth, health and happiness starting today.
Live Long and Frugal!

i enjoy being frugal. an a by-product of being frugal, i find that i have more time to spend on things that are important, things that matter more!
for example, i grow my own vegetables. apart from being healthy, it saves me $$. anytime i want a treat, i go to the vegetable garden instead of the supermarket. as a result, i save on driving (+ for the environment), save on time (going to supermarket will take at least 40 minutes) and save on money. Plus i get exercise from going to the garden!!! so i do not have to join any health club (and drive there, which means more time spent on driving) !! thus saving more $$.
all these from one decision!! what is my return on investment? time, $$, health, environment….

That is awesome.
Do you have any photos of you and your veg garden.
I would love to do a quick interview or a profile of you for a post.
I think you would be inspiring to my readers.
