Mom Makes Teen Wear I Sell Drugs Sign – When A mom forces her own son to take to a busy street wearing a home made sign declaring his sins you have to stick your ears up and read into the story. Why did a mother resort to this and is it a good decision?

Dynesha Lax took tough love into her own hands and did what she felt was best to try and get her son to realise what he has been doing, including multiple run ins with local law, is wrong. She told Fox news “What else can I do?”, “They put him on probation … but nobody’s trying to help me fix my son.” in response to sending her 14-year-old son out on a bus street in Indiana City wearing the hand written sign.

The sign said “I lie, I steal, I sell drugs, I don’t follow the law,” written on a cardboard sign. The teen, ordered by his mother, had to stand on Broadway St in Indiana City for 2 hours in an attempt to make him just realise.

My thoughts…

It is sad when a relationship between a parent and child reaches such a point and whilst it would be impossible for us to judge the time up until this punishment it seems like and act of desperation on behalf of the mother to try and bring her son into some form of responsibility for what he is doing. She wanted to call him out!

Of course there could be a flip side to this story and although the mothers actions have been deemed ‘not illegal’ it is possible the child could take action and it could be deemed ‘abuse’. If the child really has been in a lot of trouble I feel like the court system may side somewhat with the mother.

Child discipline and bringing them up in the right way despite the outside influence, especially in more trouble ridden areas, is the toughest thing may people face in life. Children are vulnerable and even the most stable of homes can not guarantee that friends, outside trauma and just the everyday human condition will not lead down the path a parent would prefer.
