Nasa new life form

I was so excited last night when over a nice cold beer a friend of mine told me the news that Nasa had found a new life form. Not on another planet sadly but on Earth.

Nasa new life form on Earth, bigger news than it sounds!

This morning I started some reading to try and get my head around this announcement. Basically Nasa scientists have found a new life form in a poisonous lake in California (named Mono lake). The new life form is different from EVERY other life form ever found on Earth in the fact that it is not made of phosphorus. Instead it is made of arsenic.

Scientists have thought this possible for a while now but now the theory has been proven and we know for sure that planets don’t have to be like Earth to sustain life. The chances of life existing on other planets has at least statistically tripled.

Now this is generally a personal finance and lifestyle related blog so you may be wondering what on Earth (or Mars, Jupiter, Saturn) this story has to do with anything of that but it really does have a lot to do with it.

We don’t get game changing news like this very often, well not on this scale. The rules that we have set for the existence of life have just been changed in an instant and that surely means that nothing is safe now. Up can become down, left, right, black, white, solid, liquid! Ok maybe not that dramatic but you get the point. We need to be flexible, sure stick to our beliefs but don’t laugh at others for their ideas, embrace them and embrace your own thoughts and ideas too, roll with the punches and be ready for change that comes your way because nothing is as it seems and anything can change at any moment.

The “Nasa New Life Form” press conference….

Ok back to the actual news. At 2pm est yesterday (Friday 2nd December 2010) Nasa are had a press conference to talk about this new life form and their findings plus the significance it brings to the search for extra terrestrial life.
