New year's resolutions for Moms, Dads, Kids, 2011New year’s resolutions for moms, dads, kids, 2011, make this year count for your family

We always make our own individual resolutions and often they center around spending less money, paying debt, losing weight, giving up a habit and on and on but how often do we think about making resolutions to help our each other in our family. As a family you can sit down and talk and find out what resolutions you can all do to help each other.

The one resolution you should always try and make as a family is to spend more quality time together, turn off the TV more often, stop reading things like my blog and sit down to play a board game together and just enjoy your family and be thankful for what you have around you.

As a family unit you know what you are all lacking and what can help you so hold a meeting but to get ideas flowing here are some resolutions that moms, dads and kids can make to help each other this year.

New year’s resolutions for Moms

Often moms get a really hard time because they work part time and still in many households have to do most of the “house wive” duties. Now other people’s resolutions should help ease some of this pressure this year so it’s time to make some commitments that will help you and the family.

Consider being more adventurous with cooking if it is you who cooks. Also try and make more time to teach your children some new and different every week, this will be a learning experience for you too! Try and start a hobby that is outside of the family. Squash once a week or joining a local book club. Your time away from the family will often make you tighter as a unit.

New year’s resolutions for Dads

As a Dad and a husband you are often the breadwinner so to speak (although that is changing these days which is great). You probably work hard long hours and may even need to spend more time at home if you are a typical father. This year make that a priority. Also start helping out your wive a lot more when it comes to home duties. If you can’t iron learn to iron, make a point to do the washing once a week and help take the burden off your wive. Your kids would also love to learn from you too I am sure so spend time playing sports with them, reading books and generally trying to be the best Dad in the world. As adults they will seriously appreciate it.

New year’s resolutions for Kids

Kids, you have to give your Mom and Dad a break. Tidy your room without being asked, save some of your pocket money and buy/make your parents something nice every now and then for a surprise and to show them how much you appreciate their efforts. It’s not easy being parents. You should also make a resolution t focus at school and also start worrying about health and fitness. Play sports in the yard, don’t spend your pocket money on chocolate (well not too much) and also when you feel something is against you don’t tantrum. Talk to Mom and Dad and nicely tell them why things are not fair or why you really do need something. You are a kid but you can act responsible like an adult and your Mom and Dad will appreciate it very much.

These are just suggestions of course and very general but hopefully it has got you thinking. As a team you can make a great family and ayou really can make 2011 count towards bonding and making each one of you a better person.

Happy New Year.
