OAMC

If you have seen the term OAMC kicking about and were wondering what on earth it was well let me tell you, and let me tell you why you will want to use OAMC to your advantage.
It stands for Once A Month Cooking and is a very simple idea that basically allows you to spend a day or two every month cooking up a load of recipes and freezing them. You can serve them quick and easily drastically reducing your cooking time over the month.
Some of the instant advantages of OAMC are:
- Saving money by buying ingredients in bulk;
- Less time spent in the kitchen so more time spent doing what you like;
- Less opportunity to snack at the food you are cooking each night as you prep it;
- No need for extra runs to the grocery store for forgotten ingredients every two or three days;
- Fresh tasting healthy meals everyday with less temptation to get takeout.
Obviously there are loads more advantages but generally it’s just an excellent idea if done in full or partially.
I tend to find I’ll cook batch meals every few weeks rather than one day per month but this works out well and as long as I date everything well it’s easy to keep track of everything.
Some meals that I think work excellent for OAMC include:
- Chilli
- Curry
- Pasta Sauce
- Stew
- Fajita fillings
But there are methods and ways to freeze almost any meal and have it reheated like fresh. Now you may be wondering about getting a hold of some recipes. I recently wrote a post entitled “Once A Month Cooking Recipes” that looks at an absoluteley fantastic resource available for a very low price.
