Proud Yakezie’s Finally Get A Place They Can Call Home

Yakezie Personal Finance BloggersFor those of you who don’t know (yeah, yeah I know I talk about it all the time!), I am a proud member of the Yakezie group of personal finance bloggers.

The group has helped me build some great blogging friends, find awesome quality PF and Frugal info and help push me to make vast improvements both with the way I write for my own blog. In short Yakezie rocks.

Up until now we have been like virtual hobo’s operating via a Google group forum, twitter and just around on each others blogs.

Well today (August 15th 2010) thanks to the seterling work of the group founder Sam from Financial Samurai we finally have a place we can call home.

Welcome to Yakezie.com

The Yakezie group has been running now for about 6 months with the initial goal to simply improve our Alexa rankings and get below 200,000. Many of us 100 or so members achieved this but we gained so much more than increasing a simple number. Yakezie pushes for selfless promotion of each other and help in pushing each other to be bigger and better.

Yakezie.com is going to take our little band of bloggers much further and has been excellently organised into sections that Sam has named verticals.

ADVERTISMENT: CONTENT CONTINUED BELOW

Yakezie Lifestyle: I can see myself hanging out here the most. This side of the site will be a place where people can talk about lifestyle choices (hopefully minimalism and frugality, my favorites!), hopes, dreams and such things.

Yakezie Personal Finance: I’m sure this vertical will quickly fill up with essential advice and info related to all PF topics! I can’t wait.

This vertical will take some time but it really is the one thing that is summing up the essence of our woderful group. I’ll quote from the site:

YS is our most ambitious vertical and likely one that will take the longest time to build.  The Yakezie group has the innate spirit of selflessly helping others.  If you could only see the amount of collaboration we’ve shown in our Google Groups, you’d be amazed.  Yakezie Scholarship is our chance to give back to the community of readers in a big way.  We want to help those who most wish to help themselves.  The Yakezie Scholarship Menu will consist of consulting advice about how to get into graduate school, analysis of your existing investment portfolio, advice on how to grow a profitable online business, a monetary gift certificate to buy books for next semester and much more.  Think about the Yakezie Scholarship as Extreme Home Makeover meets personal finance!

Introductions… Introductions…

Sam made the right deciosn, in my opinion, to slowly build Yakezie.com. The next few months will be a chance for members and readers to get to know the group with members posting their introductions throughout the week. Mine is coming on 23rd September so I will be sure to let you all know about it.

Sounds great, sign me up!

I know this post sounds like some kind of sales pitch but it isn’t! Yakezie isn’t some pay program it genuinely is a group of bloggers who just help each other out. So if you write about personal finance, frugality or anything related, why not join us?

Simply go over to the first Yakezie post where things all began.  Join the 6 month beginner stage of the challenge and get involved.

Can’t wait to see you there….

What an awesome wrap Forest! The Lifestyle section is definitely a natural extension of personal finance and I’m excited to read about your Member Post and all the good stuff there.
