Redbox June Free Rental
Posted on 06. Jun, 2010 by Forest in Deals, Movies & Videogames
I love Redbox as a simple non-subscriber solution. I have used them many times as a quick solution to a boring night and I also keep a list of Redbox New Releases on this blog, updated every week.
I received an email from Redbox just a few days ago giving details of their free rental for June.
From June 1st – June 30th Redbox if you rent any two movies at the same time Redbox will give a promo code for a free nights rental to you. Not bad at all!
Obviously a valid email address is needed at checkout so they can send the details.
Here is the image from the email.
What do you think of Redbox? Do you use it much and have you had good service with them?
Thanks,
Forest.

Love RedBox myself. Depending on how many credit cards you own, and how many promo codes you have – it’s possible to get 2 free weeks of movies!
Did you hear about one of the co-founders? Apparently sold off his shares/stake in RedBox and buying majority in Blockbuster.
Not sure all the details yet, but has some sort of “vision” for the failing company.

That’s a good trick actually…. I pledged not to use credit anymore but luckily debit holds Visa status these days that can be used on the Kiosks…. I think the details of this offer offered one a week too (would have to check that)…
That’s really interesting news. I actually like Blockbuster too but they just can’t compete with Redbox’s pricing…. I know Blueboxes are here and there, maybe it’s based on those?

I love Redbox and that’s really the only place we rent movies now. Even though the price went up here to $1.25 per movie per night, it’s still a bargain.

That’s still a great bargain. I’m not in USA right now so not sure if they have risen in price all over…

I’ve used Red Box one time, I think. It was a decent experience. I like the simplicity, and it’s cheaper than Blockbuster.
However, I would point out that libraries are even cheaper when it comes to movie rentals: FREE! You just have to wait a little longer for them to get the latest movies, but I usually don’t mind that because if I REALLY want to see a new movie, I’ll watch it in theaters.

Absolutely Red, libraries are awesome. My old library in Montreal even ordered movies if you wanted to see something specific!

They just sent me a free code today, too.
Or if you are not signed up for REDbox codes to be sent to your phone, you can go to Inside Redbox for recent codes.
I don’t use them often. I think it was Money Crush or Ultimate Money Blog that said Redbox makes their money in late fees because 3 of their local Redbox machines were to full to take their returns. So they had to return them back late.
And its a limited selection if you just drop by. You do have the option of going to their site online and making reservations for a movie. But I just don’t take the time to do so.
And since our Hollywood video is closing down (Redbox for the masses), we just rent our movies via cable {TV} or iTunes {for the iPad}.

It’s a shame the smaller video stores are closing as they offer a more personal experience than say blockbuster…. Assuming your Hollywood Video was one of the little ones?
I really love the little video store experience
.
I think eventually redbox style kiosks and on-demand streaming at home will be the only available ways to rent.

I like redbox. The selection can be hit or miss at times but it’s a cheap and easy way to rent movies. The key is to make sure you bring it back on time. Fortunately there are several locations near me so I always have one within a short drive.

Christine mentioned this above too….. Late fee’s are how a load of places (inc the library) make up some extra income.
Just don’t be late, I guess is the answer
…. They are spreading fast so most people will have one within a short drive or walk soon.

I’ve never used them before, but that’s because I have Netflix. I get three at a time, and make sure I get them back into the mail by the next morning. I get about 30 movies a month that was for $19.00. The price can;t be beat.

If you watch that many movies then Netflix is 100% the way to go…. If you just watch 2 or so a month I think Redbox or Rental stores are the best options…. Netflix rocks though

I don’t work and only sort of go to school, so I have a ton of time to watch them. Add in my bf works nights, and I keep to his schedule, and at 3am there’s really not much to do.
I do see your point though.

I hate redbox..I am down here in hotttttttt Tx. & redoxes close to me all are outside facing the sun (so you cant see the screen) or you are baking in the heat trien to find a movie…& worse thing yet the lil redbox got ac..you would think that they would try to put them inside @ the establishment…for when it is hottttt or very cold…..

Hey IceBurgSlimm, That is really poor planning by whoever is controlling the locations down there
. It’s a shame because what those little boxes contain is great! They really should go inside, that is where I see them most often.
