See The Dark Knight, the frugal way

Batman, The Dark Knight is finally released and gracing our cinema screens. Reviews are phenomenal and I know that I HAVE to see it.
This is looking like Heath Ledgers crowning glory and sadly he left us before he could attempt to better it! RIP HEATH…
Cinema prices are pretty high these days so I have attempted to look into the cheapest ways that us frugal people can go and see this amazing looking movie.
- The first thing to check is what night or time your local cinema has discount tickets. Then make sure you book your ticket
… this movie is hot right now. My local AMC has cheap tickets on Sunday nights ($7). Some cinemas have cheap matinee shows everyday. - Check to see if you are eligable for any discounts. If you are a student then it is likely you can get a discount. Your employer, school or even bank may have offers for cheap movie tickets.
- Get out of town! If you travel a little further from downtown the movie theaters sometimes have cheaper ticket prices. I know a cinema near me that has new releases for $6.
- Buy in bulk. If you go to the cinema once of so a month it could be worth purchasing in bulk.
Here are some ways to buy tickets in bulk at great discount. - Costco: The wholesale club has discount movie ticket offers for Regal Cinemas at $7.50 per ticket for groups of five.
AAA: With the AAA auto club membership, You may be able to find AAA offers for discounted movie tickets at $6 each. Many places offer these tickets for Regal, United Artists and Edwards Theaters. You often have to buy a bulk of 10 tickets.
Wild About Movies: They offer discount packages for bulk sales for AMC and Loews Theartre. 10 AMC Discount Movie Tickets: $66.00.
Check your local cinema for membership schemes. Again this is only likely to benefit fairly regular movie goers. But most cinemas offer a membership scheme where you collect points, get free tickets and discounts. For example AMC have the Movie Watcher site and you can sign up for their membership scheme.- If you are particulary good at “The Internet” you meay be able to seek out some coupons. I tired but did not have much luck! Sometimes people see cheap tickets on ebay and other ticket sites (be careful you don’t get ripped off!)
- Wait….. this is the worst one but may be the cheapest way to watch the movie. Rental or waiting for the dollar cinemas to pick up the Dark Knight could save a great deal.
I am going to try and see this movie in the next week and will leave a comment with my views (I can’t wait!!!). Let me know if you see it and especially if you find a way to see it cheap!!
Here is the awesome Dark Knight trailer:

Best yet you can watch it for FREE – if you dont mind a bit of a quality drop off, bootleg style at http://www.movierumor.com/
Dark Knight is movie that is best seen in HD, but if you are truly frugal, its the way to go

Hey Michael, thanks for stopping by.
You could watch it that way…. I think as you said HD or big screen is the way to go if possible…. plus I am not sure of the legality of watching it that way
Another good place to watch movies this way is http://SurfTheChannel.com, or so I hear

I was suprised to see that Movie Rumor is hosted w an IP in the US – so assumptively it will get shut down sooner or later.
Surf The Channel relies mostly on Todou which being Chinese and an IP in the Bahamas escapes any pesky legalities
Great site you have – I found it via Garry Conn – http://www.garryconn.com/frugal-zeitgeist-a-successful-niche-blog-by-forest-parks.php

Oh really!! I will have to keep an eye on Movie Rumour to see what happens to it!! Surf the Channel recently had some problems but they are well within the law as they don’t host any videos and the actual company is is Sweden or somewhere like that!!
Thanks for visiting via Garry

Thanks for the great advice. I don’t want to sound all goody goody but I would rather pay to see this one in the theater. Nothing like the big screen and the surround sound. I actually prefer to see a movie like this on the IMAX screen. There is nothing like it if you have not seen one in this format yet.
But thanks for the info. Another great way to save money is to go to a drive in. If you can find one many still charge by the car load. Get some friends and family in a nice big SUV and for $10 a car full you can get a great deal.
