‘Sesame Street’ Hacked With…
The Sesame Street YouTube channel is back up after being hacked over the weekend. For about 20 minutes on Sunday, the 150,000 channel subscribers were exposed to explicit adult content rather than Bert and Ernie.
The perpetrators are believed to be YouTube’s MrEdxwx and MrSuicider91. Only MrEdwxw has commented on the accusation, stating:
“I did not hack Sesame Street. I am an honsest youtuber. I work hard to make quality gameplay videos and most important I respect community guidelines.”
As soon as the inappropriate video content was reported it was taken down by the YouTube team. YouTube, which prohibits any sort of graphic, inappropriate material, has yet to confirm the identity of the hackers.
Sesame Workshop has issued an apology on its YouTube channel for all who were affected by the hacking.
“We apologize for any inconvenience our audience may have experienced yesterday… our channel was temporarily compromised, but we have since restored our original line-up.”
Sesame Street fans can continue watching dozens of appropriate clips and videos from the PBS show on their YouTube channel.

I think it sounds like the work of a bunch of teenagers, eager to pull some sort of prank. Part of the message that was posted by the hackers on the YouTube channel read:
“EVERYONE LOVES IT… PLEASE DON’T LET SESAME STREET TO GET BACK ACCOUNT BACK KIDS
WE GONNA MAKE ALL THE AMERICA HAPPY!”
Definitely someone who’s being obnoxious. While it’s meant to be a stupid prank, I feel bad for any kids who were exposed to the video content. No child should have to witness ridiculously graphic video when all they want to do is watch their favorite puppets. At least it was taken down quickly and not too many kids were exposed.
Sesame Street seems to be the center for which a lot of adults like to bring controversy to. Obviously these guys used Sesame Street for their prank because of its popularity.
Not that this is even remotely in the same vein, but other people in the past have argued that the show should promote Bert and Ernie as domestic partners. The show has rejected this idea, of course.
My point is that Sesame Street is a show with a wide reach. Some people want to use it as a platform for social change while others know it can be used for prank that will make them famous.
Still, the show remains for children and continues to do its best to promote educational material for children without too much input from the outside world.
