Stealth Job Search Tips – It is advisable that you search for a job whilst holding onto your current one but often it could cause an issue if your current employer finds out you are trying to move elsewhere.
Stealth Job Search Tips
So how do you go about searching for a job without alerting suspicion in the job you currently have? It can be hard because looking for other work can shift your focus, make you secretive with other things and generally make you feel guilty. Of course in an ideal world you would be able to be honest about everything but if things were ideal you wouldn’t be looking for another job!
Of course the first thing is to make as much job applying to happen outside of work hours. Don’t look for jobs, email CV’s or anything like that on company time.
You’ll want to arrange your day so that you keep your phone off with a good quality answer phone message to let potential employers leave a message. Just say that you will be able to get back to them during lunch hours and call them back from a quiet location away from your workplace during these hours. Answering calls during working hours is not professional so I think most potential employers will happily wait for you to call back.
Also if you can find a good place to spend 30mins of your lunch break online that isn’t a regular place for other workers then you will be able to reply to any important emails or look for a few places to apply.
Many companies now organise interviews outside of working hours but if not then ideally trying to schedule a few on one day can help you use your holiday wisely and again stealthily. Asking for lots of random last minute days isn’t good!
At work you need to try and keep focus and keep doing your best. Finding a decent job can take a while and you need to keep your current one. If anything you want to try and work a little harder. Don’t gossip against your workplace and don’t tell anyone you are thinking of leaving. Workplace gossip spreads faster than a virus and everyone will know in no time at all.
Basically just keep working hard and try to do as much as possible in the evenings. Keep in the best mood about searching and about your current job!
Good luck and please do share any tips that you have.

Practical Parsimony

Don’t do as my friend did and leave your updated resume in the copy machine at work.
Even a quick email of a resume is like gossiping since emails can be accessed at work.
I would never hire anyone who had a song on their voicemail that I am forced to listen to, especially one proclaiming love or anguishing over a cheating lover. GAG at any songs. Maybe people should not annoy a future employer by having a song while waiting for the phone to ring.

Yikes, that is a big mistake! Rumours spread like forest fires! I hate songs too, I wish there was an option to not have them when waiting on the phone to a company.
