Strangest TV Shows
The strangest shows to ever air on TV are not from just one country. No way. In fact it seems that shows with weird premises are what unites the international television world more than anything. While humor is subjective, and interest in drama and crime varies from country, shows with stupidity seem to trump any and all cultural differences.
Let’s take a look at some of the Strangest TV Shows to date:
Silent Library
MTV recently adapted this television show from a Japanese original. Basically a group of students sit in a library, flip cards with challenges on the other side or are marked ‘safe’. They are unable to talk and attempt to complete these extreme tasks for money. Most of them involve major discomfort or humiliation.
La Notifiero con Brozo
Sure, we like our news with a little humor from time to time. But having someone tell you the news in clown makeup and gear? Especially when they’re not cracking jokes all the time, but rather telling you serious things in a garish costume. Only in Mexico I suppose.
Chucklevision
The name is strange enough, but this English show gets weirder in its premise. It’s a television show for children where two mustachioed brothers go into a world where they undertake adventures like discovering why only one of them can see an invisibleĀ leprechaun…
Hole in the Wall
The Japanese are notorious for their strange television shows, but this one sounds like fun. Essentially it is human Tetris– contestants twist their bodies to fit the shape of holes in oncoming blocks.
Wetten… dass?
This German television show has celebrities come in and make bets on the stupid human trick abilities of every day folks. An American adaptation would essentially include George Clooney betting that you could in fact burp the Star Spangled Banner.
Television shows are mostly all stupid. At least that’s what I think. Particularly game or reality TV shows– they really rarely challenge the viewer but are more about the capability of the people on television. I’d like to say I think that television programming is getting better, but I don’t see a lot of evidence in that theory except with shows on HBO or other uncensored networks. But that’s just my opinion, and we all have different taste in what we like.
