Thinking More About Cheap Vacation Ideas
Posted on by Forest in General, Saving Money & Finances
In my post Cheap Vacation Ideas I looked at some ways in which you can be creative to keep the costs of your vacation down to a minimum. It included staying local and breaking down some of the budget breakers, such as food costs and going places with free events. This is all excellent advice for shorter vacations but I am sure at some point you just want to get away from it all.
Flying can actually be pretty cheap if you are flexible on destinations. You can look at companies such as Expedia, Kayak and Priceline for cheap last minute deals and find yourself a cheap flight to a cheap destination.
I currently live in Egypt and as far as cheap vacation ideas go if you can get a decent priced flight you can really stretch a budget here and see some really amazing things. I wrote a lot about it in my the post on having a budget vacation in Egypt.
The biggest thing you need to do to keep your break on budget is to be creative and accept that you can’t have everything. But think about it…. A BBQ of fresh fish on the beach next to the Red Sea will be much cheaper than sitting in a fish restaurant on the Red Sea but absolutely as equal in grandeur and memories. The same goes for sitting down with a few beers or a good choice of wine, infact it could be much better as you don’t have the hassle of calling the waiter over and dealing with silly restaurant upsell tactics…. Just relax and enjoy your company.
It also often pays to go off the beaten path. While in Europe consider getting a bus or train to an unheard of village, enjoy the local cuisine (at local prices) and relax away from the well trodden path.
