Weather Strip Doors

Sorry to announce this sad news but Summer is almost other! Noooooooooooooo I hear you scream, how could I give the bad news!
Well now that unpleasant news is aside it’s down to thinking about the upcoming fall and winter and the fact that you will have to be turning on your heating soon and dealing with all sorts of adverse weather. This year you should at least think about trying to protect your home a little more from the cold and the elements to reduce your bills and make your home a little more comfy.
Why not weather strip door in your home?
Weather stripping is a simple practice of installing something around your doors to stop heat escaping and moisture coming in. It’s basically plugging any holes using foam strips or rubber inserts around the door. This still allows the smooth operation of the door but can save a lot of energy.
How to weather strip your doors
Weather stripping is easy and as a frugal fellow like myself I would advise that you do it yourself. All the pieces can be easily purchased from a hardware store and often come with instructions. Plus there are some awesome instructional videos on YouTube. Personally I like this video below and I think it explains the process very well:
Additional weather stripping tips
Most of the focus is on weather stripping outside doors but as the winters draw in we tend to hit a more hibernation status and often the whole family holes up in one room. I suggest you weather strip that inside door too to help conserve heat within the house itself and avoid having to put heating on in every room. It’s also worth while getting additional snakes for the bottom of your doors (remember those material things your grandma used to have at the base of her door!).
Have you weather stripped your doors yet?

Weather strips are great but everyone should also think about installing low-e window films on their older windows. The window film reflect the heat back into your room instead of letting it go straight out the window. We purchased affordable window film kits from SnapTint and installed them ourselves and what a difference they have made. Check out SnapTint’s website for more info. http://www.snaptint.com

I sure don’t. I work for the county government in Varmland, Sweden. I ordered the window films before we left the US and had relatives ship them to us after me moved. I have just been very impressed with the performance and wonder why window film products seem to left out of majority of the energy efficiency articles.
