World’s Most Popular Brands
There are some brands that are forever confined to their cultural locale, while others are exceedingly popular all over the world! Whether or not they maintain a strong presence in foreign countries because of their product’s overall appeal or they just have a killer advertising campaign, the following brands have managed to be the most popular in the world.
You may not be surprised to see which made the top ten list for most popular among international consumers. Upon doing a little research I found that there is room for interpretation when it comes to defining the world’s most popular brands and the world’s most powerful brands. In some instances they are the same, in others there is less consumer popularity due to the economic status of the people.
World’s Most Popular Brands
In all reports it seems that Coca-Cola has been declared the world’s most “popular” brand. That is to say it ranks in the top 10 most powerful brands and is widespread in consumption. Every single day 1.7 billion coca-colas are purchased. EVERY DAY!
Nike, Disney and McDonald’s also have prowess in the popularity camp. Nike is the world’s leading athletic supplier with annual revenue in excess of $18.6 billion and 30,000 employees worldwide. Disney is the world’s largest media conglomerate in the world while McDonald’s is in 119 countries worldwide serving 64 million people daily.
The most powerful brands in the world are slightly different. Most that have made the top ten list are not as popular on a surface level consumer basis, but are prominent around the world because of their increasingly integral function in our globalized society.
#1 Google.
Valued at $66 billion, growing exponentially and crucial to modern society– making it the mega-power brand.
#2 GE
$61 billion value and involved in countless parts of the world’s technological/industrial sectors.
#3 Microsoft
This part is an integral part of modern society and industry and is valued at $54 billion.
#4 Coca-Cola
Valued at $44 billion.
#5 China Mobile
The country’s largest mobile operator is estimated to be worth $41 billion.
#6 Marlboro
The most popular cigarette brand in the world is valued at $39 billion.
There are many other brands that could be added on this list. Apple, of course, is a highly valued company that has massive appeal. It is also a bit exclusive and not purchased by the average consumer. That is to say, it’s more difficult for people in developing countries to purchase its products.
For now it seems like some of the world’s most popular brands like McDonald’s and Coca-Cola have and will continue to dominate our globalized world.
